Welcome to The Bend Like Bamboo Resilience Show. Each week, I get to interview amazing people, who will share their inspiring stories of resilience. I dive deep into wonderful DNM’s with my very special guests, exploring their stories of how they have overcome adversity in their lives, professionally and personally.

Get ready to be inspired by their stories, golden nuggets, and actionable tools that can help us all to elevate our mindset, and be bigger than our setbacks. Within every adversity is an equal or greater opportunity. My intention for these sessions is to remind us that no matter what we are going through, we can overcome it, and discover what we are made of.

It is important to feel motivated and hopeful about the future. When we are positive we can be more creative, and innovative. Seeing our obstacles as opportunities, rising above the turbulence we can feel more ready to rebuild our mind, body, and lives after what has been a massive adjustment to 2020.

Introducing Fiona Goldsmith.

Fiona Goldsmith is an author, speaker, poet, and qualified Yoga teacher that specialises in pain management.

With over 40,000 hours leading classes, workshops, and private sessions, Fiona completed teacher training at the world-renowned YOGA WORKS in Santa Monica, California in 1994. 

She merged various yogas with Chi Gung, mindfulness, breathwork, and resistance stretching. 

Fiona teaches corporate workshops, group classes, privately, and also works with teens and kids. Her tools are resistance stretching, functional movement, and breathing. Her movement protocols have a strong focus on the mind, to help her clients become strong, flexible, and balanced in their bodies, creating comfort and confidence. She has created a merging of modalities she calls Resistance Yoga, which she teaches at Flexxd.

Her gift is simplicity. Her voice takes you on a journey. She uses practical tools that gently spill over into the lives of her clients and students to create a body awareness that continues on following a session.

She believes that no one is more of an expert on you and your body than you. "I am passionate about empowering people to age gracefully and take back their power, over their own bodies and minds." 

Flexxd is the combination of more than 20 years of working with movement. It’s the best of yoga. It’s stretching with resistance and gaining flexibility safely. It’s mindfulness in action. It’s breathing with awareness. It’s simple. It’s accessible to average bodies.  It’s therapeutic, powerful and people are describing Flexxd as amazing.

Fiona believes that flexibility in the body can be transformative, and that resilience is the ability to recover. “Crap happens, we must learn from it.” says Fiona. Fiona broke her wrist and was so weak that she couldn’t perform the most basic of tasks like lifting a teacup or washing her hair. It made her feel powerless and this was a new and uncomfortable experience for her. Because Fiona is her business she felt vulnerable when she was injured, so she decided to go on a trip to Bali to be in a new environment, people and perspective.

In Covid-19 lockdown, Fiona also had to adapt to a digital market, she performed facebook live classes that took off, and this has now expanded her business globally. Recovering from her wrist surgery, Fiona ensured she fuelled her body with nutrient-dense foods, hydrated, moved as much as she could, and finally began to recover. She is now feeling more confident and creative than ever before. If you loved Eat pray love you will love this interview.
