The Bend Like Bamboo Resilience Show: Featuring Mark Truelson, Speaker and disruption specialist.

Welcome to The Bend Like Bamboo Resilience Show. Each week, I get to interview amazing people, who will share their inspiring stories of resilience. I dive deep into wonderful DNM’s with my very special guests, exploring their stories of how they have overcome adversity in their lives, professionally and personally.

Get ready to be inspired by their stories, golden nuggets, and actionable tools that can help us all to elevate our mindset, and be bigger than our setbacks. Within every adversity is an equal or greater opportunity. My intention for these sessions is to remind us that no matter what we are going through, we can overcome it, and discover what we are made of.

It is important to feel motivated and hopeful about the future. When we are positive we can be more creative, and innovative. Seeing our obstacles as opportunities, rising above the turbulence we can feel more ready to rebuild our mind, body, and lives after what has been a massive adjustment to 2020.

Introducing Mark Truelson

Mark Truelson is not your everyday speaker. He leads from the heart and brings love and emotion to the normally sterile world of Corporate Australia.

To Mark, there’s nothing more tragic than when a human questions his or her worth. He provides the tools to employees that can ignite the passion and overcome dormancy in the workplace - the very dormancy that fuels doubt, dismay, and even personal crisis.

These tools aren’t just business savvy. They’re personally transformative.

Transformative companies and ideas upend markets by doing something truly different —they see a need and create something for a market which may not yet exist. After working with some of the world’s best companies, Mark discovered that the framework of transformation can also be applied to individuals. So, if you are…

  • a high potential individual ready to make a big career leap

  • a leader trying to jump start innovative thinking in your company

  • a self-starter ready to make a pivot in your business, or

  • a thought leader ready to ignite the passion from within

We are living in an era of accelerating disruption—responding with new learning curves is a vital skill. If you want to be successful in unexpected ways, Mark will guide you down your own growth path.

I loved this interview with Mark, he is a brilliant story teller and disruption specialist. His ability to help people and companies navigate change is profound. Mark has a gift that allows him to help others access intimacy within themselves, allowing for transformation. This is what makes his workplace workshops so different.

Mark believes that there is a vulnerability and softness that can be found in resilience. He felt this in what we have all most recently gone through living in a pandemic. To find the endurance to persist, we need a framework so that it can become a repeatable process, something that we can all learn and teach.

Control, Alt, Delete

Control: our state, work on our mindset to be optimistic is what gives us the motivation to do the impossible. It also provides greater meaning to our work.

Alt: alter the story. What are the alternatives, we are living in a new world we must adapt. Be discovery driven, be up for daily change, what are your strengths and can you apply them?

Delete What do you need to get rid of in your life? What sucks your energy and stops you from creating time, money and resources? Take the right risks, what isn’t serving you? Let go of entitlement and ego.

In 2014 Mark went through his own personal transformation after he experienced so much change in his life he had to completely stop and reset. At his. lowest point he felt shame and had anxiety over buying toothpaste a decision that usually takes him 3 seconds but at the time left him overthinking in the isle of the supermarket. Feeling overwhelmed Mark feared he was letting people down but quickly discovered that he had incredible love and support from his family and friends that got him through what was the hardest time of his life.

Mark’s tips:

  • Numbness is a feeling that can cripple you, listen to the signs of losing touch with how you feel and disconnecting from those around you

  • Signals to look for:
When you feel like you are caring less

    When you are talking less
Not seeing what is around you
