The emotional links to the thyroid

At Bend Like Bamboo I specialise in the emotional links to disease and physical stress. In traditional Chinese medicine our muscles are associated with our organs and emotions, which is why a sore neck can linked with emotions of over worry. For example, the stomach organ is in charge of digestion, if there is a physical imbalance here I will also look at how are you currently digesting life?

If we understand that the body is connected, we can get to the bottom of physical symptoms by understanding how they are related to our emotional state.

Remember how we perceive stress is our own perception. If we can soften in calmer energy we are more able to see our situation with fresh eyes and new angles. From here you can change your mind about old redundant stories, that may not be in alignment with who you are now or the reality you wish to create.

To Bend Like Bamboo is to change your mind about what can be possible for you, being flexible in your mindset, optimising resilience.

Today’s blog is about The Thyroid

The job of the thyroxine hormone is to increase metabolism. We know that the body is a mirror image of the mind, our thoughts and feelings. Cell Metabolism can represent the rate of development of an area of your life. When one becomes concerned about how slow or fast an area of their life is developing, this could relate to difficulty with the thyroid gland.

When you want to slow down - metabolism seems to slow down and this can lead to weight gain, low body temperature, fluid retention and fatigue. Hypothyroid is an under-active thyroid means that the thyroid cannot make thyroxin effectively and therefore the body cannot keep its metabolic rate. When a person becomes concerned that life is happening too fast or that too many situations are accelerating the rate of activity in their life, the thyroid can mirror this. Hyperthyroid is an overactive thyroid that is producing too much thyroxin. Hyperthyroidism means the thyroid gland is overactive. An immune system abnormality called Graves' disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism. People treated for hyperthyroidism normally end up with an under-active thyroid which is called hypothyroidism.

The emotional links:

There is a time in our life when we may believe that we do not have the ability to do something about increasing the rate of development in an area of our life. However if this goes on for a long period of time and we do not transform through the lessons and hurdles to overcome these beliefs, that is is typically when the body will scream at us. Ask yourself if you believe that you have the ability to create the necessary situations (thyroxin) to get things up and running at a faster rate? Challenge if this is true and how it may be serving you to believe these thoughts. Can you see your situation with fresh eyes and new perspective?

The immune system is related to the the thyroid and may attack it if it sees the thyroid as a threat. Ask yourself, do you believe you have the ability to create a situation to increase the rate of development in an area of your life? If you are not believing this can you shift this as it is perceived as a threat to your system.

It is a good idea to ask yourself, how am I feeling in relation to this? Journal daily to unravel your true feelings about what is going on for you in your life. It is so common to be so busy, loosing touch with how we truly feel, just to get on with the day. I believe that physical symptoms can be messengers, reminding you that you are not listening to your inner guidance and voice.

Perception and what you are believing about your situation is the key. You can change your mind about how you are perceiving your life or any given situation. Flexibility in your mindset is what gives you the resilience to do this and it takes practice. That is why daily mediation and journaling can really help you when you are faced with challenges. If you have a daily habit to master your mindset when life throws uncertainty and challenges, you have the power to see things from a higher perspective, tp fly high above the turbulence. When we change the way we feel about something it can change what we see in our reality around us, but also what occurs biochemically in the body. Everything is connected.
