MS Walk and Fun Run Sunday 2nd June 2019
In 2009 at age 29 I recovered from an attack that paralysed me. Now out of a wheelchair I had learned how to walk and run again. To celebrate my family, friends and I took part in the MS Walk and Fun Run and we have never missed a year.
I am so proud to be this year’s Fun Run Ambassador. It is a yearly tradition for me to take part in the 2019 Melbourne MS Walk + Fun Run to fight MS.
Multiple sclerosis is the most common disease of the central nervous system in young adults and it strikes young people in the prime of their lives.
What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition of the central nervous system, interfering with nerve impulses within the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is characterised by sclerosis a Greek word meaning scars. These scars occur within the central nervous system and depending on where they develop, manifest into various symptoms.
MS affects over 25,600 in Australia and more than two million diagnosed worldwide. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20-40, but it can affect younger and older people too. Roughly three times as many women have MS as men.
There is no cure.
1 in 3 Australians know someone living with MS and the average age of diagnosis is just 30 years old. That’s incredible.
So I’m taking on this challenge to help people living with MS get the support they need to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest.
Please DONATE now to support my challenge and change the lives of Australians living with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you for your support.
